Laser Hair Replacement - Is it Effective?

Hair transplant and hair restoration surgery are done with the help of lasers. Hence this procedure involving laser is also known as laser hair replacement.

The use of laser in the hair replacement surgery has provided a significant improve in the number of patients with hair loss are using the laser hair replacement surgery. This method of hair replacement is painless, blood less and there is no consumption of time and there is no any other defect that this treatment would cause.

Laser hair transplantation is used to create the holes in the recipient sites for the mini grafts to be inserted in the place from the donor region. There is some side effect that we should ignore the myriad to make the surgery successful. Before the invention of laser the site creation process itself is a tedious process for treatments like harvesting or graft dissection.

While talking about the pain involved in laser hair replacement, the laser treatment is extremely painful unless local anesthesia is administrated to the patient. The laser beams used in these days are ultra pulsed CO2 lasers. This laser creates a hole by vaporizing the tissue in the scalp. The pulse of the laser used is short, and the heat transfer to the tissues is less.

Though the heat to the tissue is small the calls are non selectively destroyed. So the laser treatment in laser hair replacement becomes more painful. Generally, sedation is given to numb the recipient site before the commencement of the surgery. Because of this draw back, some are not ready to under go the permanent hair loss treatment.

The main aim of the laser surgery is to stimulate the hair follicles. The laser treatment increases the blood flow in the scalp. It also increases the oxygenation in the blood. This provides the required nutrients to the hair root and the cells that are stimulating the hair follicles. The implanted hair is also in the growth phase immediately after the laser surgery.

This surgery is also known as blood less surgery. But care should be taken in order to maintain this status of laser treatment. Excessive use micro grafting technique will result in the increase of the graft space in the scalp. This will cause blood loss and coagulation of blood in the scalp. This is a disastrous draw back when the procedure are not cleanly followed.

The major advantage in the use of laser is that it can easily create a slit for the plantation of the dissected grafts. The size of the slit can also be controlled by the laser beam according to the size of the grafts. The laser beam wave length is varied according to the size of the grafts needed for implantation of the hair.

The laser hair replacement also has some other draw backs like the destruction of elastic fibers and the dermal collagen in the head. Irrespective of these defects the laser treatment has proven its worth by the advancement of technology in the laser field.
